When asked about his time at The Decade recently, Bon Jovi related it to his hometown bar in New Jersey: “Like the Fast Lane in Asbury Park, The Decade was a sacred place where dreams came alive.” In just a few visits on The Decade stage, Bon Jovi encapsulated the bar perfectly.

Steven Van Zandt of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band helped produce the Houserockers album Have a Good Time (Get Out Alive) . Van Zandt introduced Bruce Springsteen to Joe Grushecky, and the two hit it off. After driving around one night in Pittsburgh, and post hot dogs at “The O”—The Original Hot Dog Shop, Grushecky suggested they go down to The Decade. Gilbert Snyder and Bon Ton Roulet were playing at the time, and Sharon Pavone graciously invited Springsteen on stage. When he hopped off stage, he told Grushecky, “This is your Stone Pony.” (Courtesy of Richard Kelly.)
